What is a Stress Score?

Stress: it's all about context and in any form, whether positive or negative, and too much can be a detriment to your overall mental and bodily health. At Happy Health, we've created an industry-leading, proprietary, smart ring to derive your key health signatures and culminate that into a single, easy-to-understand, and actionable Stress score.

You can read a bit more about why we focused on designing a ring in this article:
Why Design a Ring?

The Happy Ring tracks your biometric signals, sleep, and movement to provide you with an at-a-glance picture of your total health. Rather than a dizzying array of granular metrics, a simple Stress score from 1-100 makes progress easy to understand, while the app provides in-the-moment guidance to help you improve your mind and body.

Going a bit further, the Happy Ring uses a unique algorithm to calculate a Personalized Stress Score using inputs from the sensors in the Happy Ring, in combination with information that you provide in the app about your personality/lifestyle. The primary measurement from the Happy Ring used to derive stress level is electrodermal activity (EDA). EDA measures eccrine activity influenced by the sympathetic nervous system. Layman's terms: We measure the perspiration on your hands. EDA is considered a reliable and robust biomarker for determining psychological stress within users. Combining this EDA input, with a variety of other sensor inputs (stress, movement, temperature), allows us to calculate and personalize your Stress Score based on your unique responses to environmental stimuli.

Stress, positive or negative, is fatiguing to your body, therefore, we don't qualify the nature of the stress. Our ultimate goal is to visibly and quantitatively demonstrate the stress load on your body and mind and provide benchmark tools for reducing your overall Stress Score. This can include meditation exercises, increased movement recommendations, and sleep schedule adjustments, just to name a few. Our team of stress experts are here to help make, your life better and less stressful!
